Miao ethnic dance costumes
China is home to numerous ethnic minorities, among which the Miao ethnic group is one of those with the most diverse clothing styles. With a long history and vibrant colours, Miao clothing is characterised by the use of techniques such as brocade weaving, embroidery, and floral patterns. They often feature striking colours like red, black, white, and blue. The upper garment typically has narrow sleeves, a large collar, and a short jacket with overlapping fronts, while the lower part consists of pleated skirts. Additionally, Miao people adorn themselves with exquisite jewellery and silver accessories, such as headdresses, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. This rich attire showcases the distinctive cultural heritage within the Chinese ethnic groups.
